A Kickoff of Sorts

Well, here it is: my blog. As the fancy thing up above says, this will be my primary contact with the northern world while I am abroad. Who knows how it will turn out, but my guess is it will frequently feature photos from my travels, thoughts, discoveries, and plenty of snobbishness and pretentiousness--looking down my nose at all you folks who are stuck in North America. I hope that I'm kidding about that last part; I really do want to keep things interesting, and not be one of "those people." I would love your feedback regarding what you would like to see/read, and what you wouldn't. I think that's as much of an introduction as I need here.

As I've been thinking about my imminent travels, my inner scientist has been pestering me to look into day length. I know this sounds lame, but it's really a cool idea, because I will be travelling from a relatively high latitude in the Northern Hemisphere, to low latitudes, to a relatively high latitude in the Southern Hemisphere. For that reason, I created a nifty graph!

I also thought you (whoever you are) might like to see what my January will look like. So I made a calendar! My group presented this slideshow for our class, and it gives a bit more information about what exactly we are doing, and why. Check it out!

That's all I can think of right now. Stay tuned over the next few months!
